Does it work with room temperature drinks?

What works better, cans or bottles?

Cooling is more effective with cans than with bottles due to the better conductivity of aluminum vs glass.

How cold will my drink get?

Our tests show that a can of soda that starts at the standard refrigerator temperature of 38 °F / 3.33 °C,

  • Will cool down to 32 °F / 0 °C in 5 minutes!
  • Will cool down to 27 °F / -2.8 °C in 25 minutes!

Caution: Some drinks may will start to freeze and become slushy.

Note: Tests were done at an ambient temperature of 78 °F / 25.6 °C

How long will my drinks stay cold?

Our tests show that your drink temperature will drop to 32 °F / 0 °C and will stay below fridge temperature for about 100 minutes.

Phase change freeze packs usually last long enough to cool at least 2 drinks.  Swap them out with every drink for the ultimate cooling experience!

Note: Tests were done at an ambient temperature of 78 °F / 25.6 °C

Should I freeze my phase change freeze packs on edge or laying flat?

Laying Flat

Freeze your SKADI 10 Below Phase Change Freeze Packs flat.  They can be stacked on top of each other to optimize space.

CAUTION: Freezing In The Vertical Position Can Make It Difficult To Insert Cans

Help, I froze my freeze packs on edge and I can’t insert a can!

Don’t worry, this is easy to fix!

Just squeeze the pack with your hand and even out the refrigerant mixture before inserting the can or bottle.

CAUTION: Forcing a can or bottle into the phase change freeze pack or you may rupture it! (Please see the related FAQ: Help! My freeze pack is leaking!)

Help, one of my freeze packs is leaking!

Don’t worry – the mixture is food safe, is not harmful in any way and the freeze pack will still cool your drinks.

If you can identify the leak, you have two options:

1) Seal the hole with a flexible, low temperature sealant like Loctite Stick and Seal or E6000

OR

2) Squeeze out the rest of the gel from that cell and dispose of in the trash

Remember – even missing one cell, your phase change freeze pack will still work and cool your drinks to make them refreshingly frosty!

What’s the easiest way to insert the phase change freeze packs into the 10 Below?

We’ve found the easiest way to insert the phase change freeze pack is to do the following:

  • Curl the pack into a circle
  • Give it a little squeeze to loosen the ice crystals
    • This will make it easier to insert your can or bottle
  • Insert the pack into the Ice Coolzie Tumbler or Ice Coolzie Classic
  • Insert your can or bottle in the center of the freeze pack
  • Push until full inserted.

CAUTION: If it is difficult to insert the can/bottle, don’t force it!

  • Remove the freeze pack, make sure the ice crystals are evenly distributed – adjust them by squeezing them a bit – then re-insert the can/bottle.

How can I quickly cool a beverage from room temperature?

While not designed to cool beverages from room temperature, you can quickly chill a beverage to a drinkable temperature by using multiple phase change freeze packs.

  • Insert the can or bottle in your 10 Below and place it in the freezer
  • Wait 5 minutes
  • Replace the phase change freeze pack with a fresh one from the freezer
  • Wait 5 minutes
  • Enjoy your beverage!
